In Ephesians 5:5 we therefore read that no one “who is covetous (that is, an idolater) has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.” Idolatry is an affront to God. It declares God to be second-rate by denying his sovereign power and wisdom and by considering God’s gifts more important than God himself.
